The Summer 2020 Showcase is now published

Pistachio

Well, it is mid-summer here in Northern Temperate latitudes, so it is time for another Showcase. It’s a place of peace in a world that is currently turbulent. Not that I am an advocate of false peace – I’m a firm believer that silence is violence – but we all have a duty of care towards ourselves, so that we may be at our best among others.

This Showcase is a haven of haiku, mandalas, and poetry. The mandalas are courtesy of are resident artist Marie Taylor.

To visit the Showcase, hover your cursor over the “Experience” tab and scroll down, or click here.

Stay safe, stay sane, and do what you can to make this a better world.

Love,

MM

Late again…

Karl Valentin 1021… but have no fear, I intend to turn this lateness into an opportunity.karl-valentin-1022 I’m delaying the publication of the Summer 2018 Showcase here at the zen space for a week, while I sort out some issues (I won’t bore you with them).

This means that you have an extra week in which to contribute! I am especially looking for new ‘names’ – people who have not had anything published here before. So if you are new to our Showcases please contribute (as per the instructions under the ‘Submission’ tab). And if you happen to know of anyone else who may be new to us, please pass this invitation on to them.

What I am looking for is haiku of course, but not just haiku. I like to feature any short, in-the-moment poems and poem-like words. Let me see what you’ve got.

the zen space has now been published since 2011, which is actually a lot longer than I had expected. I would like to say thank you to the many people who contribute, and also to those who read the Showcases. I hope you will all continue to support this little venture – and don’t forget to pass the word along.

Once again, in case you missed it above, I’m delaying publication of the Summer 2018 Showcase, and extending the deadline for submissions. You have an extra week!

1… better late than never!

We have some absolute delights for you this time, and a complete mixture of poetic and prose forms, which is something I have been aiming for since the zen space began. And do you know what? It’s our sixth birthday! the zen space has been going for six years.

In order to read the new Showcase, hover your cursor over the ‘Experience’ tab, and scroll down the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can click here.

Time to blow out some candles!

The Summer 2017 Showcase will be a little late.

clockYes, thank you Salvador, I know the clock is melting. You don’t have to tell me!

I’ve never allowed a publication date to slip by before, here at the zen space, but a combination of circumstances will mean that this one will be a handful of days late. Can’t say precisely when it will appear, but you may rest assured that it won’t be more than a few days after the normal date. I have some wonderful submissions to consider in the mean time. Thank you all for sending them in.

The Summer 2016 Showcase is now published!

It’s the first day of July, and here in Scotland it does not really start to get dark until after 10pm  – to us it seems like the evening is a time for doing things, walking round our garden, studying the sky, going for a drive. But I’m sure you’ll find time to read the Summer 2016 Showcase. It is full of energy thanks to the visual offerings by KANIHA and the words of the many fine poets and haijin who have contributed this time.

To visit the Showcase, please hover your pointer over ‘Experience’ and scroll down, or click here

… and ENJOY!

this buzzing morning

The Summer 2015 Showcase is due to be published on the 1st of July. I’m opening it to submissions this time, and I’m looking for ‘buzz poetry’ – that’s my name for any haiku or short form of words that is in-the-moment, of-the-moment, expressive, thought-provoking, emotion-evoking, or just zen-cool.

I would like to hear from new contributors, though old friends are welcome too. Just click on the ‘Submission’ tab and email me something. It doesn’t have to be on any particular theme, so surprise me with your brilliance…
